activate picture password feature on Windows 8 , I have been looking for ways to get the similar feature on my Android Phone. Thanks to XDA developer kevdilu , Android users can now use similar photo gesture unlock feature on their devices as well. The app comes in both lite and a paid version. In this article, I will tell you how to use the lite version to access the feature and then we will be talking about the difference between the lite and the pro version. So let’s have a look at how we can get the Windows 8 like picture password feature on our Droids.

Get Picture Password on Android

Step 1: Download and install Picture Password Lockscreen on your Android. The application works on all the devices running on Android version 2.2 and above. Step 2: After you have installed the application, launch it. When you launch the application for the first time, it will show you a Picture Password Lockscreen Setup Wizard. Tap on Next to continue with the wizard. Step 3: In the wizard, the app will ask you the Gesture you would like to use on the photo to unlock the phone. I would suggest you ignore the Circle option as it’s a bit difficult to draw a circle on small screen devices. You may check Point and Line and go ahead. Step 4: Finally the app will ask you to import a photo from your Android’s gallery and ask you to crop it to fit the screen. After you have imported the photo, the app will ask you to record gestures on the photograph. Depending upon your selection in the previous step, the app will ask you to perform dot, line and circle gesture in the exact same order. After you record the pattern, you can test it on the app to make sure you are getting it right. Finally you have to select the option to Start Service to activate the lock screen. Don’t forget to check out the app preferences, set up the backup pin and the number of tries one should go through before being given the option to provide the backup PIN. If you want to override the stock lockscreen, there is an option for that as well. In the advanced settings, you can configure the gesture error tolerance to make approximate gestures work. In the free version of the app there will be a screen lock delay and you will have to start the service manually every time you boot. These limitations are removed when you buy the pro version.

Conclusion

Picture Password Lockscreen is a promising app which keeps getting better after every update. Personally, I loved the idea but I think a new feature that could hide the gesture while unlocking the phone will be a great addition. What do you think?
