This new update follows Messenger’s Instant Games update that the company announced on Wednesday, which allows users to play games within the Messenger app. Reactions were first rolled out for posts by the company more than a year ago and their popularity seems to have grown ever since. “We’ve been listening to people and know that there should be more ways to easily and quickly express,” the company stated while launching reactions Comments only had a ‘Like’ button beforehand and the addition of reactions is surely going to boost interactivity within post comments.
How to React to a Comment?
The reaction feature is available for both desktop users and mobile app users. Note: If you aren’t able to react to comments using your Facebook mobile app, maybe the update hasn’t been rolled out in your area yet but you’ll soon receive it. For desktop users, you’ll need to hover over the ‘Like’ button below the post and you’ll see more reaction options. For Facebook app users, similar to reacting directly to a post, you’ll have to long-press the Like button on a comment and ‘Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry’ reactions will pop-up. Select one, and it’ll pop-up in a small bubble below the comment. Here’s to watching your news feed getting crowded by emoji and since Facebook implies that users demanded this feature — here is to the lazy users who gave such feedback — may your timeline be more cluttered with reactions than anyone else’s.
